　　另外，還有其他多種用法：

　　1. 與某些名詞(如help, value, interest, importance等)連用，相當(dāng)于形容詞，可用作定語(yǔ)或表語(yǔ)。如：

　　It’s not of much value. 這沒(méi)有多大價(jià)值。

　　This subject is of great interest to me. 這門學(xué)科對(duì)我來(lái)說(shuō)是很有趣的。

　　The dictionary is of much help to the students. 這本字典對(duì)學(xué)生幫助很大。

　　2. 與 hear, talk, know, speak 等動(dòng)詞連用，表示一種間接性，大意為“涉及到”。如：

　　I’ve never heard of anyone doing a thing like that. 我從未聽(tīng)說(shuō)有人做過(guò)那種事。

　　Mary is talking of looking for another job. 瑪麗說(shuō)起要另找一份工作。

　　I don’t know the writer, but I know of him. 我不認(rèn)識(shí)這個(gè)作家，但我聽(tīng)說(shuō)過(guò)他。

　　People spoke of their fear as the flood waters rose. 人們說(shuō)起看到洪水上漲時(shí)的恐懼。

　　3. 與表示動(dòng)作的名詞或動(dòng)名詞連用，表示動(dòng)賓關(guān)系。如：

　　The writing of the letter took me three hours. 寫這封信花了我3個(gè)小時(shí)。

　　Loss of health is worse than loss of wealth. 失去財(cái)富比失去健康更糟。

　　4. 表示比較范圍，意為“在……當(dāng)中”。如:

　　Of all the choices, this is the best. 在所有選擇中，這種最好。

　　Of the two coats, the black one is the better. 在這兩件外套中，這件黑色的更好些。

　　5. 與 careless, clever, cruel, foolish, friendly, generous, good, impolite, kind, nice, polite, right, rude, selfish, silly, stupid, wise, wrong等表示人的品行和特點(diǎn)的形容詞連用，用于 It’s+adj.+of sb (to do sth) 句型。如：

　　It was kind of him to wait. 多蒙他好心等候。

　　It was silly of you to believe him. 你相信他是愚蠢的。

　　It was foolish of me to forget. 我真蠢，竟然忘記了。

　　It’s unfair of him to criticize me. 他批評(píng)我是不公平的。

　　It was generous of him to pay us. 他付了我們錢，真慷慨。
